About Rainbow Moonstone
Despite its name, the material commonly sold as Rainbow Moonstone is a variety of labradorite, a member of the plagioclase feldspar family. Its colorful optical effect is produced when light interacts with microscopic structures within the stone.
The result can be gorgeous flashes of blue, aqua, yellow, and other colors that appear and disappear as the stone or viewing angle changes.
Natural inclusions, internal fractures and veils are common in this material and are not considered defects. They can also contribute to the unique appearance of each bead.
