Kunzite

Kunzite is a pink to purple gemstone that's a variety of the mineral spodumene. It's known for its color range, play of light, and optical effects.


Discovered in 1902 in the Pala Mountains near San Diego, California, Kunzite is named after George Frederick Kunz, the gemologist who first identified it.
