Blue apatite is a phosphate mineral that is often found in hexagonal crystals in igneous and metamorphic rocks. It can also be found in sedimentary environments, but is usually extracted from pegmatite and hydrothermal veins. Blue apatite is transparent to translucent and has a petrol blue color. Its coloration is usually due to trace amounts of iron and chlorine in the crystal.
